Obituary
Irene Wentzel McLaren passed away peacefully Friday, Oct. 20, 2017 in Maitland, Fl. where she lived for 4 years. Born in Wilkinsburg, Pennsylvania in 1928, Irene attended the University of Miami (FL), worked in Arlington, Virginia for the Army Dept. of Security and married Frank E. McLaren. They moved to Miami in 1950 where they raised two children and were active members of Coral Gables Congregational Church. Irene discovered quilting and eventually became a Certified Quilt Judge for the National Quilting Association.
Irene is survived by daughter, Linda McLaren Smith (Michael), son, Douglas McLaren and 5 wonderful grandchildren, Michael, Kristen, Ciara, Hannah and Violet. A Celebration of Life will be held at Savannah Court of Maitland on Nov. 6, 2017 at 1 pm.
As promised Irene will be buried in Imler, Pennsylvania with her family and her husband. Donations in her name may be made to the University of Miami or the Parkinsons Outreach Center in Orlando.
