She retired in 1992 from Sarasota County Building Department as an office manager after 21 years.  She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Sarasota.  She was fiercely independent and her family and friends were her greatest joy.  Donations can be made in her name to Tidewell Hospice and the Humane Society of Sarasota County.  Per her request there will be no services.

Instead of flowers, the family would prefer if you would make a donation to

Iris was my mother’s best friend. She was kind and fiercely loyal to those she loved. She loved my mother, Joan , my brother, Dan, who pre-deceased her, my sister, Liz and me. She “adopted” us when mom died six years ago and said, “You kids are mine now.” She was a great lady, gracious and kind. She loved her son, his wife and her grandchildren very much and talked about them often. She lives forever in our hearts and will NEVER be forgotten.

Our Grams had the best laugh and sense of humor to go with it. She had a heart of gold and loved unconditionally! Our world is a better place because she was in it. I will miss her forever.
