Irma Veronica Heimgaertner, 88 passed away and transitioned peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Saturday, April 9, 2022. She was born in the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago on March 26, 1934, to the union of Adolphus Spinks and Josephine Rosetta (Sadlow) Spinks. She was married in the year 1954 to Leslie A. Griffith from which she had four children. In the year 1976 she married William L. Heimgaertner.

Irma retired as a Manager’s Assistant from Illinois Bell, Chicago, Illinois in the year 1989. After retiring she moved to Lehigh Acres, Florida in the year 1991, and was a member of Christ United Methodist Church of Lehigh Acres, Florida and enjoyed attending until she was no longer physically able. She accepted Christ as her personal Savior and learned to play the organ, on which she loved playing and singing hymns. Irma was very happy in the company of her family, her children, grand-children and great grand-children and friends.

Irma loved her family and people in general and gave of herself in many ways and was fun to be around. She was an avid seamstress and craft maker and loved making clothings to donate to the needy. She was very active and enjoyed engaging with people and had lots of friends, here and abroad. She had a sense of humor and could keep you laughing; always having a welcoming smile on her face. After retiring she enjoyed family gatherings, traveling, cruising, music, sewing, cooking delicious meals, spending hours in her garden and at the same time, found the time to be a dedicated caregiver to seniors.

Irma was preceded in death by her parents, Adolphus and Josephine Spinks, her husband William Heimgaertner, her son Wayne Griffith and her brothers and sisters – Arnold, Naomi (Victor) ChinKit, Egbert, Monica (Lionel) Porter, Carl and Edmond.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter; Yvette (Jeffery) Stewart, of Racine, WI and sons Lincoln (Cynthia) Griffith, from Lehigh Acres, FL and Hugh (Lucita) Griffith from Racine, WI; her grand-children – Nicole (Larry) Curtis, Jason (Alesha) Stewart, Michelle (Brandon) Buchanan, Janelle Stewart, Christopher (Ronnie) Stewart, Krystle Stewart, Brandon Griffith and Blair Griffith; and seven great grand-children; her sisters – Annette Spinks-Patterson, Drucila Spinks-Garrick, Desmond Spinks all of Trinidad & Tobago; Marie Spinks of London, England; and a host of nieces and nephews.
