Darlene Hofner, 81, of Port Charlotte, FL. passed away peacefully on July 31, 2024, surrounded by her daughters.

Darlene enjoyed bingo, playing squeak with her family, reading, and going to the beach.

Her happiest moments were spending time with her love, Dick and “The Elite”.

Darlene is survived by her sons, Gary (Lisa) Scharf of N.C., Steve (Denise) Scharf of N.C.; her daughters, Wendy McCarthy of MI, Amy Leineke of FL., Stacie (Lee) Sherman of WY.; her best friend, Patricia (Robert) Coulter of FL.; her grandchildren, Sharrise McCarthy, Kyle Scharf, Josh McCarthy, Ryan Scharf, Christopher Scharf, Tyler Scharf, Courtney Leineke, Kirstin Leineke, Jarrett Sherman, and Darian Sherman. She has 14 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends who she loved very much.

She is preceded in death by her parents, the love of her life, Richard Bennett, sister, Shirley Harter, brothers, Gerald and Kenneth Harkless, and grandson, Kent McCarthy Jr.

A celebration of life will take place in Mesick, MI at a later date.
