Obituary
Ivan Verle Goodwin, 79, of Port Charlotte, Florida, passed away on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, at Fawcett Memorial Hospital in Port Charlotte. Ivan was born on February 10, 1945, in Shelbyville, Indiana to the late Earl D. Goodwin and Jewell L. Keahey Goodwin.
In addition to his parents, Ivan is preceded in death by his son, Ike Goodwin and his brother, Morris Goodwin.
Ivan is survived by his partner, Charlene Robinson; children, Chester Goodwin and wife Billie of Indiana, Timothy Goodwin of Indiana, Tammy Collins of Indiana, and Buffie Hobbs of Texas; Charlene’s children, Steve Cox and wife Dian, West Mitchell and wife Dianne, Jimmy Cox and wife Cathy; Several grandchildren, great grandchildren and many other family and friends.
Ivan was a loving partner, father, brother, and grandfather. Ivan was honored to serve in the United States Army for several years. After retirement and in his spare time he enjoyed sitting outside talking with his friends on his CB Radio. He enjoyed it so much that he has a room dedicated to all of his radio accessories. Most importantly, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He will be dearly missed but precious memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
A memorial service with military honors will be held on Friday, December 6, 2024, at 10:30AM at Sarasota National Cemetery located at 9810 State Rd 72, Sarasota, FL 34241.
