Obituary
Jack Doyl Wood
Age 67, of Daytona Beach Shores, went to his heavenly home on June 19, 2018.
He was born in McAlester, OK on August 20, 1950. Jack was a true Oklahoma country boy.
He graduated from Savanna High School in 1968, where he met his wife, Yvonne. They married on August 23, 1968 and would have celebrated their 50th anniversary this summer.
The Savanna class of 68 held their reunion in March which was a highlight of Jack’s year.
Jack accepted Christ into his heart at the age of 16, surrendering his life to Jesus. He has served in various Baptist churches as Bible Teacher, Choir Member, Soloist, Music Leader, Deacon, Committee Member, Youth, College & Career Leader, Training Union Director, Awana and coached Upward Basketball. He gives God all the glory for his successes.
Jack began his construction career in 1971 in Oklahoma City, building nine 7-11 stores, and thirty-seven Sonic Drive-In restaurants in seven states.
He moved his family from Muskogee, OK to New Smyrna Beach in 1984. With his concrete contracting company, Santana Group Corporation, he completed 650 apartment complexes in fourteen states.
He and Yvonne developed and built Whispering Wood Condominiums, a 104 unit complex on Airport Road in Port Orange, on their first Florida home place.
Spending time with family is what gave Jack his greatest joy.
He was an avid reader, Westerns being his preference.
Travel was his favorite past-time, visiting much of the United States and several foreign countries.
Those left behind to celebrate his memory is his wife, Yvonne, son Jonathan Wood, daughter Andrea Bowers (Ken), five beloved grandchildren: Taylor, Brook, Jarred, Dylan and Austin, and a huge extended family he loved dearly.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, July 14, 2018 at 10:30 am at First Baptist Church of Daytona Beach, 118 N Palmetto Avenue.
In lieu of flowers, please make any contributions on behalf of Jack to Halifax Health Hospice, 386-425-4792, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129

Jack and Yvonne were a wonderful couple who touched many lives. They lived their faith and were an example to all who knew them. May that faith continue to sustain the family at this difficult time. God bless.

Thank you for teaching me so much at Santana
This is one of our favorite pictures of Yvonne and Jack, when on their way to Maine they visited us in the wilds of eastern North Carolina. We were so pleased they were able to stop in, as always sharing their love and laughter.
Knew Jack at Savanna School even though he was older, but never a bad word from him. Always seemed happy and an addicting laugh. My condolences to the family.
