Obituary
James Douglas Henson
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of James Douglas Henson, 75, of Venice, Florida on Friday, December 6, 2024.
Born on January 22, 1949, in Jefferson City, Missouri, Doug was the son of the late Jess and Bernice Henson. He graduated from Helias High School in 1967 and earned his degree in Business from the University of Missouri. Doug dedicated his working years to improving the financial wellbeing of his clients. His work helping people achieve their financial goals gave him deep personal satisfaction.
Doug married his longtime partner, Yobany Mora (Joe) October 8, 2021, in the Florida Keys. Together for 25 years they enjoyed a life full of adventure and love.
Above all, Dough loved his family. After his retirement, Doug and Joe left New York and moved back to the Midwest, Jefferson City, Missouri, spending 8 years caring for his elderly parents and maintaining weekly gatherings to play cards.
Doug was an avid swimmer and a pool aerobics instructor to many residents of the Bird Bay Community in Venice, Florida.
He is survived by his husband Yobany Mora of Venice, FL; his sisters, Sharon Henson Cormack of Fort Myers, FL and Dana Henson Zimmerman (Larry) of Jefferson City, MO; and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Tidewell Hospice, 210 Wexford Blvd, Venice, FL, 34293, in memory of Doug Henson.
Remembered for his resilience, sharp wit, and fun-loving spirit, Doug made a lasting impact on everyone he met. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
