James Anthony Gioia of Stuart, FL and The Villages, FL passed away on January 5, 2021 after a valiant battle with COVID-19. Jim was born on May 30th, 1945 to Dominick Gioia and Ruth Phillips Gioia in the Bronx, NY. Jim was a Marine in the military. He grew up on the waterfront town of City Island, NY where he found his true calling as a sailmaker and boat canvas upholsterer. Jim settled in Stuart FL, another waterfront town, where he was the founder and owner of G&G Sails and Canvas for 46 years. Jim is survived by his adoring wife and best friend and soulmate Donna-Lee. He is survived by his children Paul Gioia (Melissa), Brigitte Gioia, Kevin Cosgrove (Christin), and Kim Cosgrove. Jim is also survived by his siblings Jeanine (Bob) Stacy, Don (Yvonne) Gioia; and his ten grandchildren Antoinetta “Toni,” Dayne, Tyler, Ivy Alexis, Kylie, Cole, Dominique, Mya, Lily, and Kendall Rae; including many nieces and nephews. Jim was known as a great storyteller, a great fisherman and chef who loved to cook for his family and friends. He loved to swim, scuba dive, play cards and softball in The Villages. He was always called crazy legs by his family and friends for his love of dancing and being the great dancer that he was and the fun that he had. His family and friends will always remember him as a loving, funny, and generous man. He will be missed sorely by all.

Due to COVID-19, a Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
