Obituary
LEESBURG, FL – age 75, Jim passed away peacefully Thursday June 25, 2020 after a courageous battle with cancer at home with his family by his side.
He was born in Appleton, WI on December 19, 1944 son of the late Anthony Metz and Isabel Mowry. Jim will be fondly remembered as the owner of Sunburst Jewelers in Racine, WI. Prior to that Jim served his Country honorably in the US Airforce from 1965-1969.
Both he and Lindy loved to travel from Europe to motorcycle rides enjoying many long-distance trips on their Goldwing. Many adventures were had, as they traveled to 40 states and Canada. His love of motorcycling earned him honorary membership in the Blue Knights Wisconsin Chapter XI. Retiring in 2005, he and Lindy moved to South Carolina for 11 years and then made the move to Florida. Wherever they went, new friends were made, but their lasting ties to Racine includes extended family, friends, and the Green Bay Packers. To know Jim meant you were fortunate to be included in his circle of friendship and trust.
Jim is survived by his wife and soulmate Lindy, son Ryan Metz (California), son by choice Jamie Garcia (Florida) sister Toni Hammes (Racine, WI), sister-in law Kathy Metz (Racine, WI) and many loved nieces and nephews. Along with many friends, Jim’s best buddies included Ron Mau, John Steinhoff and Kip Jensen. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother David Metz, sister Linda Erickson, brother-in-laws Cal Hames and Dan Erickson, stepson Daniel Brack, and in-laws Philip and Wanita Brack Jr.
A Celebration of Life in Wisconsin along with a Military Remembrance in Leesburg FL will be held at a later date.

Jim was our usher for our wedding 50 years ago. I got to know Jim so well as he and his first wife and sons lived In our upper flat. Jim was sweet, sincere, kind and had a great sense of humor. Jim will be missed.
