Obituary
FORT MYERS – James
Patrick Mooney, 82, died
peacefully Saturday, April
2, 2022. Born in Boston,
MA, September 30, 1939,
the son of the late William
“Woody” Mooney
and Doris (Guenthner)
Mooney. Jim attended St.
Ann’s Catholic School and
Dorchester High School.
Following high school
Jim served his country honorably from 1958 to
1960. After returning to Dorchester following
his service in the US Army, Jim joined his father’s
business, Mooney’s Plumbing and Heating where
he learned to be a skilled technician and ultimately
became the owner of the business. Jim later became
a talented builder of custom homes, building several
beautiful homes in Falmouth, MA on Cape Cod
where he had settled with his wife Karen (Cuddy)
Mooney.
Jim was a very talented artist who captured his
great appreciation for the beauty that he recognized
in barns, buildings, boats and people. Jim
was a true lover of animals, nature, fishing and old
movies. He was a true New England sports fan,
who especially loved his New England Patriots and
Boston Red Sox. Jim was also a proud member of
Alcoholics Anonymous for several decades during
which he served as a sponsor and friend to many
in his fellowship.
He is survived by his wife Karen (Cuddy) Mooney
of Fort Myers, FL and their daughter Kerri (Notto)
Kellan and her husband Christopher Kellan of
Atkinson, NH. Jim is also survived by his three
sons, James Mooney and his wife Karen Mooney,
Mark Mooney, and Eric Mooney. Jim also leaves
behind many beloved grandchildren and nieces
and nephews. Jim is also survived by his brother
William J. Mooney and sister-in-law Ellen Mooney.
Jim was predeceased by his parents, brother John
“Jack” Mooney and his daughter Carla M Mooney.
Services will be held at St. Columbkille Catholic
Church 12171 Iona Rd, Fort Myers, FL on April
12th at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family
requests donations be made to Yana Foundation
in Fort Myers, FL that Jim was involved with for
many years.
