James (Jim) R. Stem, 79, of Leesburg, FL died in his home, surrounded by family on February 4, 2024. He was born on May 30, 1944, son of the late William and Grace (McCready) Stem in Easton, PA. He is an Easton Area High School class of 1962 graduate.
Jim is survived by his wife Beverly (Haney) Stem, brother Jack Stem and his wife Terri of Tavares, FL, sister Barbara Powell of Nazareth, PA, and countless nieces and nephews.
Jim and Bev were married June 25, 1966 and resided in Easton, PA where Jim worked at Equitable Life. In 1999 they relocated to Leesburg, FL where they have been since. Jim worked in building maintenance for Lake County, FL until his retirement in 2010.
Jim was an avid hunter, fisherman and boater and was very proud of the 24 inch trout he caught at Penn Pump in the Bushkill Creek in Easton, PA. Jim loved cooking and baking, often experimenting with new recipes.
In addition to his parents, Jim is predeceased by a brother, Bill Stem and a sister Cindy Noll.
There will be a Celebration of Life Saturday, February 24 at the Glenn Burns Community Building, 17436 Division Street, Montverde, Florida 34756 from 10 a.m. – 12 noon. A Celebration of Life service will be held in Easton, PA on a later date.
