Jimmy, as his sister Jeanne (Kenneth) Hallam, Jenison, MI, used to call him, was born on April 12,1934. He spent his youth in the Belding area, where he began his career in the design of equipment and machines with the Gibson Refrigerations Company. On February 18, 1954, he entered the Army out of Detroit near the conclusion of the Korean Conflict. He held the position of Specialist 3rd Class where he earned the National Defense Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, and the Parachutist Badge. He was honorably discharged in 1956.

He was preceded in death by his parents Elwyn and Lois (June) Shore, step-brother Robert Shore, wife Joanne Shore, granddaughter Brittany Shore Smith, and special friend Fran Elkins, along with several in-laws and special friends

His friends and loving associates over the years included a number of wonderful people. He married his one and only wife, Joanne Smith, of Detroit, in 1955 in Fort Benning, GA. In March 1956, they bore their first child David, followed shortly by Lynn and Allan. Their final son, Duane Shore, would come along sometime later.

David Shore and his wife Melissa Treusch currently live in Riverview, FL. Lynn and her husband Frank Mason remain in Belding, MI. Allan lives with his partner of many years, Eric  Martinez in the San Fransisco area. Duane works as an architect in Savannah, GA. For many years Jim  was the companion of Fran Elkins, who remained a dear and loving inspiration until her death. Jim’s grandchildren and all who are connected continue to live and grow in the places he called home.

Jim worked for various companies such as the American Seating Company and Belco throughout his career. He eventually settled in as a vested member of the UAW, where he retired from DaimlerChrystler in Detroit. Florida became his final relaxing place, in the company of Dorothy Farabaugh. Dorothy’s family is well grounded in the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania area where she awaits the chance to join her beloved angel in the future.

Son David and Debbie Grunow had two children, Brittany and Spencer Shore. Sadly, Brittany passed away recently leaving husband Derek and daughter Nora. Spencer, with former partner Nikki, have a child Emerson. Lynn and Frank have two children, Marty and Richard Mason. Marty and Jamie Fletcher Mason have two children Payton Jo and Jackson James. Richard and Trisha Slocum have (son Brooks) on the way. Allan and Erick have no children but share their love with their pets, including their border collie Shetan. Duane remains single and adores the winds and ways of travel and adventures, as did his father.

To learn more about Jim’s forthcoming Memorial Meal, please contact Lynn Mason 616 204 1246 or via masonapples@gmail.com. Thoughtful stories of your connection to Jim are appreciated. Gifts or other remembrances of his contributions should be made to a charity or cause near and dear the souls you appreciate that reflect his being.
