Obituary
James Christopher Tarus “Whitey”, age 85, entered into eternal rest on May 2nd surrounded by his loving family at home. Jim was born November 6, 1936, to Marguerite and Charles Tarus in New Jersey City.
He was a true patriot and was proud to serve his country in the Navy from 1953 to 1962, both active duty and in the reserves. Jim loved music, especially on karaoke night when he could sing along. Jim had a diverse career working as a security officer, UPS Supervisor, and owner of “PJ’s Deli” in Long Island, NY. Jim was actively involved with the local American Legion Post 267 serving as Commander, a member of Elks Club, Moose Club, and Eagles Club.
Jim leaves behind his children, James, Joseph, John (Lynda), Dawn (Mike), Michael, and Richard, and two stepchildren, Jennifer and Christopher, along with 17 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Jim was loyal to his family, friends, and charities, fostering children from Anchor Ridge, donating to his church, food harvest, and St. Jude. Therefore, we ask in lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice.
