Obituary

James William Gritman, 72 of Silver Springs, died Thursday, August 4, 2016 at his home with his family by his side.  Jim was born October 3, 1943 in Bridgeport, CT to the late Clifford and Florence Gritman.  He worked as musician and house painter for many years.  Jim moved to Florida in 1988 from Block Island, RI.  He is survived by his loving wife, Linda; daughter, Kimberly Gritman Wilson of RI; son, James Gritman of VT; five grandchildren, Tyler, Sebastian, Rhiannon, Nathan and Keith and one great grandchild, James.  Private services will be held.

    So sorry to hear Jim's gone. My friend, my Captain. my boss, etc. Lots of gigs that will never be forgotten. Best of all, he was my fishing buddy. Trout on the Hammonansett, Largemouth at Lake Lillinoa and bass on BI. Drum Corps competitions were attended by many friends. Jim was a world champ one year when he played. Rock on Jim. Tom Sanford

    I knew Jim in 1969 when we were in a band together, including Jims buddy,Maynard Ralston..We all went to LA to be rock stars.we didn't become stars but we had a great time.I will always remember Jim ( and Bootie his dear Beagle ) with fondness and friendship.
    My sincere condolences to his family.
