Obituary

Jane Elizabeth Pritchard Hagan, 92, a long-time resident of Port Orange, Florida, peacefully passed away on February 14, 2018, with her loving family by her side.
Jane blessed us with her life on April 14, 1925, in Detroit, Michigan. She was raised by her loving parents Benjamin H. and Jane Maxwell Pritchard (American Mother of the Year -1956).
Jane joined the Coast Guard in April of 1944 and was a SPAR, training in Florida and serving in Washington. After being honorably discharged, she earned her private pilot’s license and enjoyed flying.
Jane married Robert L. Hagan at her parents’ home in Indian Village; Detroit, Michigan. Her marriage led her into an active life as an Air Force wife, living throughout the United States before her husband’s retirement in Detroit, Michigan.
Jane enjoyed her many cruises throughout the Caribbean with family and friends, spreading her laughter and stories (and probably a drink or two) to the many people she met. In 1994, Jane moved back to Florida to help raise her two granddaughters, Chelsea and Shelby Jane O’Brien. Jane was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church of Port Orange, attending weekly Sunday services for over two decades.
Jane will always be remembered in our hearts as the best sister, aunt, mother and grandmother. She was most proud of her World War II service, and had the privilege with other WWII veterans to participate in the Honor Flight out of Central Florida in October of 2017, traveling to Washington, D.C. with her cherished granddaughter Chelsea, who was always by her side. They shared a special bond with each other, a companionship full of warmth and affection that will be forever missed. Jane always loved her family pets, and one could always be found in her lap as she read her books.
Jane and Robert have four children: Lloyd R. Hagan (Sueann), Robert B. Hagan, Dale E. Hagan (Wanda), and Jane Hagan O’Brien; and nine grandchildren: Laura, Aric, Amy, Robert, Jonathan, Christina, Katharine, Chelsea, and Shelby, along with nine great grandchildren. She was predeceased by two grandchildren, Christina Hagan and Aric Hagan, and her loving husband Robert. Jane is survived by her sister June Sebring, of Troy, Michigan.
A private military service will be held in the future. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of Port Orange, Florida, or the Southeast Volusia Humane Society.
We’ll meet again. Don’t know where, don’t know when, but I know we’ll meet again some sunny day.
