Obituary

Janet Ann Altman (Neubert), known affectionately as “Dearie” passed away peacefully on June 23, 2022.  She was the beloved wife of and is survived by Will Altman. They were married on September 14, 1956 and shared 65 beautiful years together and raised two children in Pittsfield, MA.

She was born on July 17, 1937 and raised in Freeport, PA by the late Florence (Freehling) and Norman Neubert.  Janet graduated from Freeport High School, class of 1948 and attended Grove City College, before marrying and starting her family in Pittsfield, MA.  She served as an Assistant with Yarmosky Pediatric Dentistry until retiring with Will to North Fort Myers, FL. While living in Pittsfield, Janet was an active member of P.E.O., a philanthropic organization focused on educating and celebrating the advancement of women. Besides taking great pride in the life journeys of her children and grandchildren, she loved entertaining friends and family, mostly waiting on them hand and foot; playing golf and following the career of Arnold Palmer; actively supporting the ministries of Messiah Lutheran Church; and finding the best cruise deal to enjoy a vacation with Will.

Janet is predeceased by her brothers Robert and Norman “Nooch” Neubert.  She is survived by her children, Linda Altman of North Fort Myers and Jeff Altman and his wife, Jeanne of Westport, CT.  She was the cherished grandmother of Justin Altman and his wife, Katie and Connor Altman and his fiancé, Claire Fields.

A celebration of life will be held on July 14, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at the Messiah Lutheran Church, 2691 NE Pine Island Road, Cape Coral, FL 33909.  In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation may be made to Hope Hospice, 2430 Diplomat Pkwy E, Cape Coral, FL 33909.

Will, Jeff, Linda and family, I have the fondest memories of Janet, having worked with her at Yarmosky's dental office for many years! The love for her family was first and foremost, her thoughtfulness by making "buckeye" candy for the office and hosting office parties at her house are memorable. In fact, 10 Anita Drive is still referred to as the "Altman house" by my husband and I as we still drive by on a daily basis.
My thoughts are with you as my fond memories of Janet will always be!
