Janice Hunter, 86, of Edgewater died Friday, June 24, 2011 with her daughter by her side. Janice was born October 30, 1924 in Longacre, WV. She married the love of her life, Willard Hunter in December1945. They lived in Charleston, WV where they raised their daughter and Janice worked as a caseworker for the State of West Virginia Division of Health. Janice and Willard retired to Edgewater in 1978. Once retired Janice decided she could not just sit at home. She went back to work for the City of New Smyrna Beach as a Beach Toll Collector. She also volunteered at the YMCA, Edgewater, was an Ambassador for the Silver Sneakers at the YMCA and was the Community Art Coordinator for the Artist Workshop. Janice’s artworks were one of a kind. She enjoyed using watercolors and her vibrate personality came out in all of her works of Art. Her laugh, smile and witty personality will be missed, but will be remembered when gazing at one of her beautiful paintings. Janice was preceded in death by her husband in 1983. She is survived by her devoted daughter, Rebecca H. Brooks of Edgewater; grandson, Scott Hunter Brooks of Edgewater; several nieces and nephews; one faithful nephew, Bob Jacobs of Pinnconning, MI; one adored great great niece, Lauren Kate Pleska, Charleston, WV and special friend, Lizette Garcia and children.
A Celebration of life will be held at a later date.
I was reading the obituaries in the Charleston Gazette and I saw your mother's obituary. I remembered her when I saw her name and picuture. My Dad was Robert White and he was a brother to her dad, Herman White. I was a child--maybe a teen-- the last time I saw her. She used to come to my Dad's sister's home Belva Kraus. I remember her as a very sweet lady, and I wanted you to know that you have a relative in WV who has been out of touch with the family. My mother and father passed away when I was in my teens so I have not kept up much with the family. Please accept my condolences. She was a very lovely lady. I'm so sorry that I didn't make contact with her before her passing. I would like to hear from you if you would care to email me. I still live in WV.
Jenny
