Obituary

Jean Ellen (Totten) Kemp is safe in the arms of God having peacefully departed at her home in Leesburg, FL, on March 1, 2023, surrounded by her husband, son, and daughters.

She is survived by her husband, retired Navy Commander and businessman Tom Kemp; son Robert Caggiano, Jr. (Orlando); daughters Elizabeth Caggiano (Jacksonville, FL) and Anne-Marie Caggiano (Charleston, SC); and granddaughter Karlie Grace Caggiano (Winter Springs, FL), as well as numerous Totten, Caggiano, Partin, and Martin relatives.

Jean was predeceased by her identical twin sister, Janice Partin, sister Barbara Martin, and brothers Bud Totten, John Totten, and Bill Totten.

Jean worked as a meeting planner for the Florida College of Emergency Physicians and Orlando Healthcare, the Billy Graham Evangelical Association in Minneapolis, and the Professional Meeting Planners Network in Durham, NC.

Jean enjoyed gardening and always had beautiful flowers and plants brightening her homes. She enjoyed hunting for antiques, refurbishing classic furniture and breathing new life into the treasures she found, which she shared with loved ones. She also enjoyed walking along the beach at sunrise and collecting beautiful seashells. She had many lifelong friends who loved her humor and wit. She always found joy in helping those less fortunate, especially in their greatest time of need. Most of all, she adored her family and was always happiest spending time with them. Her stellar sense of humor and boundless love will be treasured by them forever.

Graveside services will be held at the Georgia National Cemetery, 2025 Mount Carmel Church Lane, Canton, GA, 30114, at 12:30 p.m. on March 31, 2023. A service of remembrance will be held at Open Door Baptist Church, 17140 US 27 North, Clermont, FL, 34715, at a date to be determined.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Jean’s name to Samaritan’s Purse, PO Box 3000, Boone, NC, 28607-3000, or online at samaritanspurse.org.
