Obituary
Jean Tyson Scott of Port Orange, FL was called home to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 18, 2024. Born on January 9,1930 in Savannah, GA to James and Josie Tyson, she was a proud Georgia Peach whose pronounced southern drawl was a trademark of her warm and witty personality. Also known as “Gran Gran” to her four grandchildren, she was a beloved mother, sister, grandmother and friend who inspired kindness and generosity in the many lives she touched. A devoted practitioner of her faith, she lived her beliefs in how she treated others. No one was a stranger, and everyone got a smile, story, quip, laugh and hug. Jean is survived by her brother Dr. James Tyson (Eileen), daughters Eileen Scott and Joy Fraser, son Jim Scott, “second son” Stacey Gill (Jeanette), grandchildren Faith and Hope Wilkes, Carly Medders (Sean) and James Scott, and great-granddaughter Kaylin Medders. We will celebrate her life at her place of worship, First Baptist Church of Harbor Oaks in Port Orange, on Saturday, February 24th at 11am. All are welcome.
