Obituary

Jeanette Martell Nettleton, 92 years of age, passed away on Monday, May 4, 2020, in Dunnellon, Florida.  Jeanette was born on March 6th, 1928 to the late Charles P Martell & Gretchen Martell (Cohen, Dunham).

Jeanette grew up in Boston Massachusetts and attended Wilton Ct High school.  She was a graduate of Southern Ct State University where she earned a Bachelors and Masters Degree in Education and a Doctorate from Heed University in Florida.

Jeanette and her husband Lee moved to Dunnellon in 1993, from Cheshire Ct. After retiring after 25 years of teaching and administration in the Waterbury Ct school System.

A music lover, Jeanette was a singer and toured with the Ben Yost Varsity Coeds, as well as singing as a church soloist. Jeanette was a passionate teacher; combining her love of music with educating, she taught piano after her retirement to Florida. Jeanette was a member of the National Education Association, and the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Jeanette is preceded in death by her husband of sixty three years: Edward Lee Nettleton II; four brothers:   Henry Martell; Charles Martell; Stuart Martell and John Martell; three sisters:  Louise Fabrizio Dominick; Florence Martell and Lorraine  M. Douglass.

Jeanette is survived by her sister:  Patricia M. Bally of Ct;  a son:  Edward L Nettleton III, of Dunnellon Fla.;  and a daughter:  Eleanor Nettleton of Middletown Ct.;  two grandchildren and one great grandchild.

We love and miss you, until we meet again.

Services for Jeanette will be held privately for her family.  Inurnment will be held in the Florida National Cemetery, 6502 SW 102 Ave Bushnell Florida 33513.

    Jeanette was a strong spirit. She had a voracious curiosity and loved to challenge herself and encouraged others to push themselves. She loved to travel and see new places. She instilled the travel bug in me and was always a great support. Rest in ferocity. Love and miss you gram!
