Obituary
Jeffrey W. Hansen, 62, took his life on Thursday, December 14, 2023. He was born in Milwaukee, WI and moved to Southwest Florida in 1969 with his mother, Maureen Hansen and two sisters, Geri Wells and Janet Erickson.
Jeff was a lover of mischief and taught those around him to always expect the unexpected. His sense of humor, a mixture of corny and crass, was his way of connecting with others. You sometimes couldn’t help but roll your eyes at his wisecracks, which delighted him all the more. Jeff was adventurous and loved a good thrill, as he had little fear of danger. The stories he told of his antics made you wonder how he survived to the age he did. Jeff took great pride in his work as a contractor. He collected photographs of his innovations and ingenuity over the decades, and would proudly show them to all that he could. He lived and embraced the iconic Florida lifestyle: fishing, sailing, snorkeling, jet skiing, scuba diving, and gathering on the beach. Jeff favored being surrounded by friends and always went above and beyond to provide for them.
Jeff is survived by his two daughters, Megan Osypenko and Amy Spindler, his two sisters, and their respective families. His family takes solace in knowing that he is no longer fighting the demons that lead to his demise. Though he had to let go of this world to find peace, they hold on to his memory in their hearts so that he may live forever.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Animal Welfare League of Charlotte County or Suncoast Humane Society as a tribute to his love of animals, or the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention to help others in similar crises.
In honoring Jeff’s wishes, no services will be held however, all are encouraged to gather and celebrate his legacy.
