Obituary

Jerome Francis (Hap) Rieve, 78, of The Villages, FL and formerly of Odenton, MD passed away peacefully at his home on March 26, 2014 after a five-month battle with lung cancer. He was born in Baltimore, MD on July 3, 1935 to the late Werner Charles Rieve and Mary Catherine (Bertling) Rieve. He was a retired Captain of Fort Meade Fire Department and also managed the family business, Rieve's Store. For the past ten years Hap was a respected member of One Source's Golf and Maintenance Crew at Lopez Legacy Golf Course. Hap was a past member of the Odenton Volunteer Fire Department and present member of the Odenton Heritage Society. He enjoyed Golf, Baseball and his Grandchildren. He met and married his beloved wife of 52 years, Sharon Louise (Boyer) Rieve, in 1961 and was the father of three children: Kenneth Michael Rieve, Lusby, MD, Werner Charles Rieve II (Chuck), Crownsville, MD and Christine Louise Keeping, North Port, FL. He was the devoted grandfather of Lani Ferguson, Kari Kinsinger and Michael Kinsinger of FL and Kaitlyn Rieve, Courtney Rieve, Hunter Rieve and Abby Rieve of MD. He was also the loving Poppi of great grandchildren, William and Alayna Ferguson, FL. He is also survived by one sister, Meryle Watts, four brothers, Werner J. Rieve,Theodore Rieve, and John Louis Rieve, MD and Carl Rieve, DE. He was the devoted Uncle to Nieces, Linda Mooney, Beth Clark, Patti Watts, Rebecca Rieve, Christina Gagliano, and Diana Sugiuchi and Nephew, Robert Rieve. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Odenton, MD.
The family wishes to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers.



There will not be any services in FL as there will be a Celebration of Life in Maryland at a later date.
