Obituary

Jerry Arnold Cook, age 84 passed away at Buffalo Crossing Health & Rehab surrounded by family and friends on March 27th, 2019, due to complications from a golf cart accident.  He was born January 1, 1935 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to George and Florence Cook.   Jerry joined the Army after graduating from high school and served in the Korean War as a medic.  He returned home and earned a degree in Computer Programming while working at the Walter Reed Army hospital.  After graduating from college Jerry began working for the Department of Defense writing programs for the Pentagon.  He went on to serve in the US Government in the Department of Mineral Management and eventually retiring from the Department of the Interior as a GS 14.  Jerry loved entertaining and cooking for friends and family.  He never met a stranger.  He loved life and always had a positive outlook.  Jerry settled in The Villages 23 years ago with his late wife Sue.  Jerry loved playing golf and his five holes in one are a testament to how much he loved the sport.  He also enjoyed his morning pool exercising and never missed a morning if the weather was above 55 degrees.  Veronika, Jerry’s companion and best friend for the past eight years was the reason he got out of bed in the morning.  Veroni and his beloved dog Bella were always at his side.

Jerry is preceded in death by his wife Sue Bohlender Cook, son Jon Cook and grandson Nathan Cook.  He is survived by many people who will miss him dearly, including his longtime companion Veronika Koenigsbauer, daughter Virginia Penny and daughter and son in law Victoria and Joseph Jingle, his sister Eloise Tickner and many grandchildren and cousins.

Jerry will be missed deeply by all who knew him. He truly was a light in this world. He always had a smile and was good for a laugh. Such a horrible loss.
