Obituary
Jerry Waikins, M.D.
Born July 10, 1945, in Covington, Kentucky, Dr. Jerry Waikins passed surrounded by family on December 06, 2024, in Daytona Beach FL. He was predeceased by his mother, Lucille, father, Augustus, and baby brother, Charles.
Jerry leaves behind his beloved wife, Mary, and many children, grandchildren, and a great grandchild.
Dr. Waikins’ professionalism and determination is attributed to his mother, a widow who raised her son while maintaining a household and a full-time job. His graduation from the University of Kentucky College Of Medicine in 1971 was followed by a residency at Shands (University of Florida) and surgical residencies in Carilion Health Systems. He was board certified in emergency medicine
He opened the first Daytona walk in clinic in 1987 which later expanded to include a family medicine practice. He was also the Medical Director of ERAU health and wellness services, a FAA certified flight physician, and, after retirement, Jerry worked as a physician at the Department of Veterans Affairs.
Jerry was a dedicated and caring husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was also an avid golfer, pilot, athlete, and Disney vacation club member.
Even though he would not like the attention garnered by having a Jerry-focused obituary, his family recognizes how far reaching his legacy is and how many people have been touched by his kindness and generosity.

bench watching airplanes takeoff and land. Beyond that, he was my personal physician, who also was my FAA pilot physical physician.
He was a very kind and empathetic soul who helped me through many issues during the time that I have known him.
I am blessed to have known him for the many years that I did. He was truly a wonderful and gifted person. May he rest in peace.
Condolences and prayers to his family,
Dr. Tamara and Mr Michael Clancy
71 years may seem like a long time to know him but it wasn't long enough for all of us who knew and loved him. We are comforted by the knowledge he is with our family members who have gone before us.
