Obituary

Jimmie Linz Mahaffey, 46, of Fort Myers, FL, passed away on March 15, 2022.
Jimmie was born on November 28, 1975 to Jimmy Ivo Mahaffey and Linda Kay Holloway in Belleville, Illinois.

Jimmie was a dedicated and highly skilled Telecommunications System Technician. He began working for Charter Spectrum for ten years and then moved on to work as a contractor for Benton Communication’s company. Through this company, he admirably provided disaster relief in Puerto Rico and the Bahama Islands after hurricanes destroyed their communication network. He also worked in California to aid in communication set up after the disastrous wildfires.

In 2001, Jimmie met Justice Reese and they wed in 2006. Together, they had two children named Courtney Reese and Matthew Burnham. Jimmie was an amazing husband and father and was extremely proud of his children who served in the Navy and Marine Corps. Jimmie was a force of nature, determined to provide for his family and give them the life he felt they deserved. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world, something he often mentioned.

Jimmie was predeceased by his mother and father, Linda and Jimmy, his younger brother Keith Mahaffey, his grandparents, Thomas and Daisy Holloway, and JC and Daisy Mahaffey, and his aunt Leona June Myer and numerous uncles. He is survived by his wife, Justice, and children, Courtney and Matt, his sister, Brandy, and her husband, Rusty, his sister’s children, Zachary, Brendan and Rhiannon, his younger sister, Tiffany Harris, and nephew Stephen Harris, his stepmother, Norma Cox, and previous stepfather, David Gray, and his wife Barbra, his lifelong best friend, John Wongler Jr., and his two best friends, Timmy Wertz and Dave Demery.

Jimmie was a blessing to every life he touched. He had a love for life and a spirit full of adventure. No one was a stranger to Jimmie, and he filled every room he entered with laughter. He will be greatly missed by all.
There will be a small family funeral service on March 23, 2022 at 3 PM at Baldwin Brothers Funeral Home, 4320 Colonial Blvd., Fort Myers, FL 33966.

    Jimmie,
I never called you by your name after we became friends. You called me Mike Lowery and I called you Fat Boy. You welcomed me into your home and family and even let me influence your son. I will miss you brother.

Jimmie, my son in law was a first of all a Patriot who did not serve in the armed forces, but was very strong in his Constitutional American freedoms that allowed him to take great pride in his family, friends and the ability to provide the way of life he needed to see his children grow up and see Matt go to the Marine Corp and then Courtney go to the Navy, Justice was always his girl and loved her so very much. He knew his life was great. Rest In Peace Jimmie. You are loved

The first time I hung out with Justice & Jimmie, he enlightened me about being a country man! He was very raw talking about his roots - and passionately defended his beloved “country way of life”. Much respect for living authentically, Jimmie.
