Obituary
Jimmy Leeds Cannaday, 85, of Ocala, died on September 2, 2019.
He was born in Carbon, Texas on September 8, 1933. Son of Troy Cannaday of Cimarron County, OK, and Grace Cannaday (Kinard), of Eastland County, TX. He attended Lubbock High School in TX and Texas Tech University. He was a member of the U.S. Air Force proudly serving as a Rescue & Survival Specialist in Reno, NV, from 1954-1958.
Jim moved to California and on June 14, 1969, married Carol Gibson. Jim worked as a General Contractor then Director of Maintenance, Grounds, and Transportation for two Northern California School Districts. Upon retiring they moved to Rio Rancho, NM in 1997. Retirement continued in with a move to Ocala in 2004.
Jim’s favorite days were spent camping, fishing, golfing, traveling and helping family members build and remodel their homes.
He is survived by his wife Carol Cannaday, son Jimmy Cannaday of Angel Fire, NM, daughter Rene Cannaday of Sacramento, CA, daughter Jennifer Cannaday of Alachua, FL, sister Leora Meadows of Kerrville, TX, brother Roy Cannaday of Lexington, KY, 6 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and many adored extended family members.
Services pending at the Santa Fe National Cemetery in New Mexico.
