Obituary

Joan F. Calise (Kite) of Port Orange, FL passed away peacefully on 11-16-2023 with her loving family. Born in Providence, RI on 11-17-1940 to the late Edgar N. Kite & Ruth A. Kite (Carmell). She attended Catholic Schools in Providence, RI. In 1976 she received her “Bachelor of General Studies” at the URI, Providence Campus via the Adult Education night program. Her internship at the Women’s Center in Providence, RI created a passion that led to many years of dedicated volunteer work. She also volunteered for the “Tomorrow Fund” in RI. She was a devoted & loving Mother, Grandmother, & Great Grandmother “Gigi”. She was an exceptional cook & hostess. She loved entertaining her Family and Friends, immensely. An 8 course sit down dinner for 30 guests, was beautifully detailed let alone unforgettable, all done by her love. She loved music, especially being played on the piano by her companion Bobby was always a highlight for her. She never met a stranger. Her smile, iconic sense of humor and beauty will forever be embedded in all that knew her. She was a voracious reader of non-fiction books, an avid golfer & conversations regarding current affairs were a must.
She leaves her 3 loving daughters, Diane L.Kirk (Sparks) & late husband Richard C. Kirk, Kimberly J. Sparks, Lori E. Kane (Sparks) & Timothy F. Kane. 3 Grandchildren, Kelli Kirk Oswald (Tommy), Ryan M. Kirk (Kayla), & Timothy D. Kane. 4 Great grandchildren, Emery & Avery Oswald & Henley and Hunter Kirk. Her companion of 26 years Robert M. DiDonato & his Family. She will join her Jane E. Antuono (Rinaldo), brother Steven G. Kite (Maria). She also leaves many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins & cherished friends.
