Obituary
Joan was a free spirit who got a kick out of dancing to the beat of her own drum while enjoying a full and active life.
She was born and raised on Long Island, New York. She began her career as a secretary/administrative assistant at the Boy Scouts of America in the heart of New York City by day and as a dance instructor at Arthur Murray Dance Studios by night.
After marrying, she became a military wife and made her way south along the US east coast before settling in Orlando, Florida in the mid-sixties. Through the years, she lived in several other Florida cities: Tallahassee, Gainesville, and Lakeland; then made her home in the Villages in 2000. She completed interior decorating training as well as court reporting. Her most notable employment was with the Winter Park Telephone Company and the Leon County School Board in Tallahassee.
Joan loved being a Villager and took part in many of the activities offered; particularly crafting and dancing. But her first love was swimming – she swam her daily laps religiously at any one of the Villages sports pools.
Travelling was another passion of Joan’s throughout her life. She visited many interesting locations including California, US National Parks, Canada, Hawaii, Alaska, Greece, Switzerland and Jerusalem. She was also a big fan of the Disney parks.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents, Elizabeth and Edgar Anspacher of Leesburg and granddaughter, Ashley Zarea.
Joan is survived by her daughter, Diane Adams; granddaughter, Alexis Adams (Cody Imars); and great-granddaughter, Carter Imars. No service is scheduled at this time. Arrangements entrusted with BALDWIN BROTHERS Funeral & Cremation Society-Spanish Springs, 352-480-5959. Sentiments may be left at www.baldwincremation.com.
