Obituary

Joan Pearsall (Joni) of Ormond Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on September 27th at the age of 67. Joni was born in Glen Cove, NY on November 11th, 1955, to Joan and Eugene Picaut.

Joni grew up in East Islip, NY and spent time in New Jersey and Virginia before planting her roots in Ormond Beach, Florida. Joni loved the Beatles, especially Paul McCartney, the beach, animals, and her favorite place Disney World. She loved going to Disney with her cousins Kathy, Nancy, and Susan.

Joni was preceded in death by her father Eugene Picaut, and grandparents Alice and William Dein. She is survived by her children Jeni Pearsall (Johnny) and Chris Pearsall (Taylor), mother Joan Picaut (Des), siblings Gene Picaut (Vicki), Bill Picaut, and Jackie Picaut-Tugwell, niece Jill Bosang (Matt), nephews Nick Picaut (Lauren), Luke Tugwell and Blake Tugwell, ex-husband Ted Pearsall along with many extended family members. Joni also leaves behind her beloved dogs, Riley and Luna.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, October 20th, 2023, from 4-7pm at the Anderson-Price Memorial Building, 42 N. Beach Street, Ormond Beach, Florida.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Emma loves K9s, Daytona Beach German Shepherd Rescue, or Sophie’s Circle Dog Rescue.

    Our dear Joni, our hearts are broken. Jenny and Chris we are so sorry for your loss. Jackie, we know you lost your best friend, Gene Vicki, Billy, and aunt Joanne. No one should lose a family member so young I am so sorry. we send our love. we will support her various charities for the dogs she loved so much.

    What a big loss of such a dear friend. Joni was a coworker but was more to me than that. She always was pulling a prank on someone and I am sure still is.She had a way about her that would always make you smile or laugh. We shared a great love of animals big or small. Prayers to her family. She will be greatly missed. I donated to Sophie's dog rescue in her honor

    Joni wasn’t just a coworker. She was a dear friend. She would always play a joke on us at work to the point where you would believe what she said. We always laughed after we found out that she was playing around. She always found a way to make you laugh. And there wasn’t anything that she wouldn’t do for you. She had such a loving and caring heart. She gave love, and all she ever wanted was to be loved back. My prayers go out to her family. Family meant everything to her. Gone too soon, but she is with the Lord now. She truly will be missed. I know she is happy and well now. In honor of Joni, I donated to Sophie’s Circle Dog Rescue.

    So sorry to hear of Joni's passing. Joni was a childhood friend and most memories of my childhood involved Joni and her family. Sorry that life got in the way of staying in touch with her during the years as often thought of her and her family. She will always be in my prayers and may she rest in peace.
