Joanne Sanders, 70, of Edgewater, Florida formerly of Greensburg, PA died on Saturday, December 8, 2018. Beloved wife of 36 years to Thomas Merrill Sanders; loving mother of sons Dobie (Christine) Marquis, Joel (Sue) Sanders, and daughter MaryBeth Allen. Jody was a generous and loving Nana to Melody Sanders, Mallory Sanders, Aubrey Marquis, Grayce Marquis, Rory Marquis, Bethany Allen, Michael Allen, Ellen Nipar and great granddaughter Braelyn Frazzini. Proud Aunt to Melissa (Jeff) Flock and nephew Ronnie Moorhead. She is also survived by her two great nieces Jamie and Emily Flock, her brother-in-law Chuck Miller, and her nephews JP (Kimberly) Miller, and Bryan (Ashley) Miller. Jody was preceded in death by her mother Norma, her brother Ron Moorhead, her sister-in-law Sally Moorhead, her sister Carol Miller and their father Jamie (Betty) Moorhead. Born in Greensburg, Pennsylvania on October 14, 1948, and graduating from Greensburg Salem High School the class of 1966, Jody worked many years for Beneficial Corporation and took early retirement to care for her brother Ron Moorhead. In 2000, Jody and her husband Tom moved to Florida to enjoy their retirement. They found a home in Edgewater Landing, where they thrived and built many close friendships. Jody was an extremely talented singer, performer and artist. She served as President of Edgewater Landing’s chorus for eight years. She also participated in the Bed Pan Band for 10 years where she and her friends visited local nursing homes and senior communities, bringing smiles and laughter to many. Jody loved to shop in the local flea markets and was known for finding precious gems and rare finds. She was generous, kind and very talented. Jody enjoyed singing, dancing and being involved in the community. She loved to sing at the campfire, play Scrabble, win at poker and travel with Tom. Over the years, Jody and Tom took many cruises and trips across the country. A private memorial service will take place. In lieu of flowers, the family requests charitable donations be made to Halifax Health-Hospice Fund Development 3800 Woodbriar Trail Port Orange, Florida 32129. I remember junior high & all the things Jody would talk me into doing, like skits for the show wagon & trying out for a musical at the armory. I was very shy back then, but Jody was always adventurous & wanting to try out new things. She brought me out of my shell. Loved her!
