Obituary
JoAnne Elaine Grimmer Sherman, 58, of Bradenton, FL passed away on Sunday, June 5, 2022. JoAnne was born March 30, 1964 in Lowell, Indiana to Martin Grimmer and Patricia (Fetsch) Grimmer.
She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Michael Sherman, her sons Adam (Ashley) Sherman and Alex (Christina) Sherman, sisters Denise Grimmer and Phyllis Grimmer, and brothers, Michael Grimmer and Martin Grimmer, as well as her beloved grandchildren, Noah, Owen, Leonidas, and Alina. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and an immensely supportive and loving group of family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Martin and Patricia.
JoAnne spent most of her career working various positions in the medical field — most recently at Paradise Dermatology with colleagues that she considered extended family. Her mind was brilliant and her ambition was unmatched. She very much enjoyed traveling to see her sisters in Indiana and spending Sunday Fundays with her daughter-in-laws. She loved being a mother and took incredible pride in raising two strong, successful men. She enjoyed life with her toes in the sand and a cocktail in her hand, noting that she loved to travel to various beach destinations with her family. But mostly, she enjoyed being a Nana to her four cherished grandchildren. She took this title with the utmost level of pride and devotion.
Her family reflects and remarks that JoAnne was their matriarch and pillar, and she is remembered for her spitfire personality but gentle and loving nature. Her character is not simply defined by words — to know her was to love her. She was a light in many lives all of which will now be dimmer without her presence.
A celebration of life will be held at The Lost Kangaroo, 406 12th Street West, Bradenton Florida on June 25th, 2022 at 1pm with family and friends to honor JoAnne’s memory. She will be greatly missed by so many.
