Obituary

Joe Anna (Justice) Addison Bristol age 89, passed away at Hope Hospice, Cape Coral, Florida. Joe Anna was born in Viola, Tennessee to Walter W. Justice (of Viola) and Velma E. Hambrick (of Stone Mountain, Georgia). Joe Anna had lived in Fort Myers, Florida since the age of two (2). She attended Tice Elementary School and Fort Myers Junior-Senior High School.

Our beautiful and sweet, sweet, Mom was an awesome lady that loved to hunt, fish and throw her cast nets. She could out fish and out shoot most men, and would fight you over a soft shell turtle for dinner. Our Mom would load us kids up in her Jeep and head to the woods, never knowing where we would end up, but it was always another adventure and making Sweet Memories! She loved having fun with us kids, our cousins, her grandkids and great-grandkids. She enjoyed teaching us all kinds of things, about all kinds of things! She was affectionately known as ‘Grambo’ to many of her older grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was active at Edgewood Elementary School as our Girl Scout Leader, Cub Scout Mom, the ‘Gypsy Lady’ for the Halloween carnivals at Terry Park, and neighborhood Mom for the Summer Camp at Terry Park; she was also active in her son’s baseball teams at Billy Bowlegs Park, and Pop Warner Football – Tice Tigers.

She had her own Plant Nursery & Landscape Business when her children were still in school, and later on she was Manager at Wally’s Farm & Garden Center, and Garden World, in Fort Myers. After retirement she enjoyed ‘rescuing’ and caring for a variety of abandoned, injured, unwanted, or disabled animals – giving them a home for the rest of their lives, and joining her ever growing collection of pets and resident critters.

Joe Anna was preceded in death by her parents, all 6 siblings, first husband, Carl E Addison, second husband, David D. Bristol, and her youngest son, Chet Addison.

She is survived by children, Cindy Chomey, Nola Addison Pentz, and Gene Addison; 15 Grandchildren, 11 Great Grandchildren, and 5 Great Great Grandchildren; and one double first cousin.

No formal services are planned at this time. Joe Anna will be laid to rest in her family plot in Fort Myers Cemetery at a later date.
