Obituary

Johanna Elisabeth Huizing, of Winter Park died Sunday, October 14, 2012.  Johanna was born December 27, 1932 in Den Haag, Netherlands to Elisabeth and Cornelis Van de Laar.  She married the love of her life, Pierre F. Huizing on January 7, 1953 and they moved to the United States in 1960.  They settled in Ridley Park, PA where they raised their three children.  Later Johanna and Pierre moved to Winter Park in 1984.  Johanna was a volunteer for the Winter Park Memorial Hospital Auxiliary from 2007-2010 where she enjoyed working in the White Elephant Thrift Shop.  She was a member of the Red Hat Society, Club Holland of Orlando, and the Cranky Campers.  She took pleasure in doll making, camping, trains and shopping for treasured antiques.  She was a woman who lived well, laughed often and loved much. She will be remembered for her passion for helping people, raising spirits and her love of dogs. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. The world lost one of its truly good people. Johanna is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Pierre; 3 children, two sons, Pierre F. Huizing, Jr of Wilmington, DE and Guido E. Huizing of Las Vegas, NV; daughter, Joyce Huizing of Elmer, NJ; four grandchildren, Justin, Rachel, Miranda, and Todd, one great grandchild, Aiden; two brothers, Petrus A. Van de Laar of Zoetermeer, Netherlands and (Ton) Antonius W. Van de Laar of Emmeloord, Netherlands; as well as her beloved dogs, Andy and Chippie. Preceded in death by, mother, Elisabeth Veronica Jacoba Papenhove, father, Cornelis Andrianus Van de Laar, Den Haag Netherlands, brother, (Kees) Cornelius Hendris Van deLaar, Zoetermeer, Netherlands; sister, (Bep) Elisabeth Veronica Jacoba Van de Laar, Den Haag, Netherlands. At Johanna’s request there will be no services.  In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donations be made to Lovey Loaves, 1180 Chambord Ct, Orlando FL 32825, Caregivers of specially-abled dogs to assist in rehabilitation, fostering and adoption.
