Obituary

John Robinson Anderson (86) originally from Greensboro, North Carolina passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, August 11, 2019. John was born on October 12, 1932 in Durham, North Carolina to Edgar Harold and Janie Dunn Anderson.
John, a Navy veteran, graduated from North Carolina State University in 1959 with a degree in Civil Engineering. After graduation, he accepted a job with Chicago Bridge and Iron (CBI) in Birmingham, Alabama. His 30 year career with CBI took him to South America, India, Europe, the Middle East and all over the United States including Alaska, California, Pennsylvania, and Georgia. In Georgia, John worked for the Herty Foundation, and then finally retired from the Corps of Engineers at age 68. He spent the majority of his retirement in Madison, Georgia and finally his last few weeks in Ormond Beach, Florida.
John Robinson Anderson is preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Janie Anderson and his three brothers and five sisters. He is survived by Riet Anderson, his wife of 47 years, his daughter Andrea Anderson (Steve Bodnar) of Duluth, Georgia, his daughter Martine Anderson Domenick (Jeff) of Bainbridge Island, Washington, his beloved grandchildren Leni and Christian and many nieces, nephews and friends spread far across the globe.
Services will be on Monday, August 19, 2019 at 11am at Saint James Episcopal Church, 38 Halifax Drive, Ormond Beach, Florida. There will be a reception following the service at 739 South Atlantic Avenue, Ormond Beach, Florida. In lieu of flowers contributions to Halifax Urban Ministries would be greatly appreciated.
