Obituary

John C. Masalski passed away August 5, 2023 at Cornerstone Hospice House in The Villages, Florida.

John was born August 3, 1932 in New Britain, CT to John Maynard Masalski and Margaret (Gulbinas) Masalski.  He attended Plainville High School where he excelled in football, baseball, and basketball becoming a member of the PHS Hall of Fame.

Upon graduation, John served his country in the Air Force assigned to the 81st Fighter Interceptor Group, Shepherds Grove, England.  Following his service, John attended Porter & Chester Institute preparing for his career as a Tool Designer with Pratt & Whitney Aircraft Company.

After leaving Westbook, CT to retire in The Villages, FL, John joined Community Watch as a courier. He took up golf (again), basketball and fishing.  His true joy came from tending his garden and organizing his tools.   John was a lifelong coach to family and friends.  He always had a big smile, a handshake and never let your glass be empty.

John leaves his wife Debbie, his brother Bill (Kathy) Masalski, and his sister Cheryl (Chuck Anderson) Janis.  John leaves his daughter Kristin Donlan, son Michael (Meghan) Masalski, step-daughter Tory (Craig) Brown and son John James (deceased).  PopPop will be lovingly remembered by Kathryn (Ryan) MacDonald, Kally (Bryan) Grandieri, Benjamin Mutz, Jay Michael Donlan, Kelly Donlan, Reid Masalski and Oceana Masalski and many cousins and nephews.

My good-looking older brother, Jack. You had the best-looking friends. Thanks for teaching me the game of golf. Even though you were left-handed, I still managed to master the game. I also learned some unmentionable fun things. You took me under your wing after Dad passed. A difficult task taking on a fourteen-year-old. Mom & I had a great time watching over the oversized Army tent at Hammonasset State Park in Madison. We took our responsibility seriously. What a great TAN we all had. You will be missed. You had a good long life. Glad to have been part of it. May you rest in peace. Love, Cheryl

So many great memories growing up with your family and living in Grove Beach. Kristin and I drove you crazy for a while but we made it up to you on the basketball court. You and my dad were so proud watching us win championships year after year. Happy that you will be with Jay and my dad! Rock heaven together and don’t do anything I wouldn’t do.❤️❤️

My good looking athletic older brother, Jack. You had the best-looking friends. Thanks for teaching me the game of golf, even though you were left-handed, I still managed to learn the game. You also taught me some unmentionable things when I was underage. Thank you for filling the role after Dad passed. A difficult task managing a 14-year-old. Wow did we have fun in the oversized Army tent at Hammonasset State Park in Madison. Mom & I had a great time watching over it during the week & what a TAN we all got. What a summer! You had a good life and glad to have shared many of those good years. Rest in Peace! Love, Cheryl
