Obituary

John Floyd Corn, born on April 1, 1948, passed away on August 23, 2023. He leaves behind a legacy of love, family, and cherished memories. John was preceded in death by his parents and ten siblings, reuniting them at home with the Lord. He was a man whose journey took him through different places and stages of life, touching the hearts of those he encountered.

John’s life began in Epworth, GA, and his presence graced Woodstock, GA, Vail, AZ, Talking Rock, GA, and Parrish, FL. He is survived by his devoted wife, Jean, a love that endured for an incredible 52 years. He also leaves a daughter, Jennifer, who carries his memory forward. He held a special place in his heart for all of the animals that called the Corn family home throughout the years.

John’s passions in life were as diverse as they were deep-rooted. An avid golfer, he found solace and joy on the golf course, perfecting his swing and embracing the camaraderie of the sport. But his passion extended beyond golf; he was an unwavering supporter of the Georgia Bulldogs and the Atlanta Braves, pouring his heart into the triumphs and challenges of these teams.

Throughout his professional life, John contributed his skills and dedication to several companies, including US Plywood, Champion Building Products, Atlas Roofing, Georgia Pacific, and BlueLinx. After years of hard work, he entered the well-earned phase of retirement, spending his leisure days enjoying the very golf he loved.

John served in the Army and was a proud Vietnam War veteran. His kindness extended beyond himself; during his time in Woodstock, he selflessly served as a volunteer fireman with the Little River Fire Department, embodying the spirit of community service. He also shared several precious years coaching his daughter Jennifer in various youth sports, fostering her growth and nurturing a bond that would forever connect them.

The family invites all who knew John to remember his life. Two celebrations will be held: one at Parrish United Methodist Church located at 12180 US-301, Parrish, FL 34219, and another later in October, a Celebration of Life, at Epworth Baptist Church in Epworth, GA. The family will provide details for both at a future date, and attendees are encouraged to honor John by wearing their best Georgia Bulldogs gear or dressing in their signature red and black.

John Floyd Corn’s journey through life touched the hearts of many. His love for family, sports, and community created a tapestry of memories that will forever remain in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known him.

Many of you will recall his dry wit, or as some call it, sense of humor. John will be remembered the most is his giving nature, and that he strived to ensure his family had everything they wanted or needed above his own desires. What a great man, he will be missed.
