John David Metz, 67 of Port Orange died peacefully at his home on Tuesday, March 6, 2013 with his family by his side. John was born July 16, 1945 in Hartford, CT. From the age of seven, John lived in the Daytona area. After high school he joined the US Army and served his country from 1965-1967. John retired from Kennedy Space Center after 17 years of service as an Environmental Control Technician. He delighted in sharing God’s Word with others. John saw no strangers-only friends he had yet to make. One of John’s favorite ways of sharing the gospel was by singing in church. He was generous with his time and talents and had a passion for John Deere products. John is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Judy; two sons, Mark of GA and Kevin of CA; two brothers, Howard of MS and James of TX. A life celebration will be held at 12:30 PM, Saturday, March 9, 2013 at Beachside Baptist Church, 629 S. Pine St., New Smyrna Beach. A private graveside service will be held at New Smyrna – Edgewater Cemetery.
Our deepest condolences as you folks go through this time of mourning. Was nice over the years hearing of all the fun times Kevin spoke of his dad i.e. going fishing etc.
Am also glad to have heard over the weeks that Kevin was able to be with all of you by his side. Malama Pono (Take Care), Jared
