Obituary

John F. Dunphy
Palm Coast, Florida

DUNPHY, John Francis, age 69, died at home February 8, 2019 following a lengthy battle against cancer.

He was born in Everett, Massachusetts to the late John P. and Catherine E. (Gilday) Dunphy. John worked as an estimator for many years for DeLuca Fence Company, Methuen, MA while living in Raymond, NH with his wife and children. He was a hard-working man who loved his family and cherished his grandchildren.

John was predeceased by his beloved son Luke Dunphy in 2008. He leaves  his wife, Mona (Pelletier) of Palm Coast, FL, two daughters, Bridget Ann Dunphy and her beau, Mark Gabryjelski of Salem, NH; Mediatrice Kantarama and her husband Jacques Ruwangwa of Augusta Maine, and five sons; Mark Sean and his wife Angela of Methuen, MA; Matthew Lyam of Redwood City, CA; John Patrick and his wife Alexis of Ocala, FL; Benjamin Paul and his fiancée Katherine Grutas of Walnut Creek, CA; and David Michael of Manchester, NH, and one sister, Sister Marilyn Dunphy of Towson, MD. He also leaves 6 grandchildren: Isaiah Dunphy of Midlothian, TX, Trey and Tyler Dunphy of Ocala FL, Keren, Noah and Daniel Ruwangwa of Augusta, ME, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

John’s love and generosity were often expressed in lavishing Christmas presents on his family as well as supporting underprivileged youngsters and children around the world through various charities. He was an active volunteer, especially for Little League. He loved fishing, although he rarely caught a thing. When John learned of his illness, he said, “I’ve loved Palm Coast so much, but I can imagine how much better heaven will be.” He looked forward to going ‘home’ to his Maker, and to be with his beloved son Luke.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, February 23rd at noon at St. Mary Catholic Church, 89 St. Mary Place, Bunnell, FL 32110.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to one of John’s favorite charities, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
