John F. Osweiler, affectionately known as “Ozzie”, 62 died Friday, November 23, 2012 at his home in Edgewater, FL. John was born July 10, 1950 in La Crosse, Wisconsin to the late Marie and John Osweiler. John grew up in Pueblo, Colorado and served his country as a Seabee in the US Navy from 1968-1972. After his time in the service he married the love of his life Virginia Garvey on August 27, 1972. Shortly after they married they moved to New Smyrna Beach, FL. Here is where John and Virginia settled to raise their two children Kristin and Eric. John was a member of the IBEW Union Local #756, the Port Orange VFW Post and the AmVets Post #2 in Edgewater. John was a loving family man. He was an animal lover and always enjoyed having a good time. If there was a party to be had he was at the center of it. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Virginia; his children Kristin Osweiler and Eric and his wife Mandy Osweiler, two grandchildren Dylan and Luke and John’s sister, Jackie and her husband Ron Connelly. A life celebration will be help on Friday, November 30, 2012 at the Veteran’s Park located on 1811 S. Riverside Drive, Edgewater at 4:30pm. In lieu of flowers the family has asked that a donation be made to one of the following organizations in John’s memory, Hospice, Halifax Humane Society or the VFW.
