Obituary
John C. Hallacy,94, of New Smyrna Beach passed away on Tuesday, January 30, 2024. John was the sixth of seven children and was born in Peoria, Illinois to George and Margaret Hallacy and grew up in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
He joined the Airforce in 1948 and was stationed in Bermuda, where he met his future wife, Pat. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science from Fordham University in 1958. John and Pat were married for 40 years, living in the village of Stewart Manor, New York for many years. He was active in community affairs, serving as Fire Chief in 1971 and again in 1980, village trustee from 1972 to 1976, and member and chairman of the Board of Zoning for several years.
John and Pat moved to New Smyrna Beach in 1990. John served as president of the Seawoods Home Owners Association for 30 years and was an active member of Our Lady Star of The Sea parish.
He is survived by his daughters Maureen Carter (John) and Patricia Hallacy (David Bone), 2 grandsons, John Marullo and Peter Marullo (Lindsay), a great-granddaughter, Phoebe Lilith Rain Marullo, his sister, Margaret Kammert, and many nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased in death by his wife, Patricia Marie Hallacy, his siblings, Mary Blanche Bauer, Rita Wiseman, George T. Hallacy, Delores Spangler and Louis Hallacy II.
He was an advocate and champion, who worked tirelessly in service for us all.
