John Hardesty Obituary

John Lester Hardesty, Sr, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, son and friend born in 1933 passed away on November 15, 2024 surrounded by family, friends and an abundance of love.

He was an Air Force veteran, a retired Post Master with the US Post Office and a skilled handyman who was happy to volunteer to help family, friends and neighbors.

John is survived by his wife, Christel Hardesty; daughter Leslie Pelkofer; son-in-law Bill Pelkofer; and grandchildren Joe, Kate and Scott Pelkofer. He is also survived by his step-sons Doug, Jeff and Brad Mitchell.

He was preceeded in death by his first wife Estelle McConnell and his son, John, Jr. His brothers, sister and parents Gladys Rogers and Ralph Hardesty also preceeded him in death.

A graveside military funeral will be held at the Sarasota National Cemetary located at 9810 State Road 72, Sarasota, FL 34241 at 11 am on Friday, January 3, 2025. All are welcome.

A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, January 4, 2025 at the Manatee United Methodist Church located at 315 15th Street E, Bradenton, FL 34208 at 11 am which will be followed by a luncheon and the church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to honor John to the charity of your choice.

    I have known John for over a decade as I lived across the street from John and Chris. John was a very dear person and a wonderful neighbor. He always had a smile for me and a good word to share. A real gentleman. He will be sorely missed
