Obituary

John Henry Gould (Jack), 88 years old, passed away peacefully at home on April 27, 2023 with his wife and daughter at his bedside. He was born on October 21, 1934 to John Otis and Blanch Gould in Haverhill, Massachusetts. John was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Mark William Gould, and one sister. John is survived by his wife of 66 years, Dorothea, and his daughter Cheryl Lynne Gould of Ocala, Florida, two sisters (Marion and Diane) and numerous nieces and nephews.

After his honorable discharge from the U.S. Air Force in France, he was employed as a plant engineer by Western Electric, which later became Nokia. Upon retirement he became a real estate agent in North Carolina, and eventually, with an interest in getting involved in the Angel Flight program, as a private pilot, John and his wife moved to central Florida. Unfortunately his intentions in helping Angel Flight were thwarted by health issues.

John should be remembered as a man of many interests who led a happy, full life. Through the years he enjoyed ice skating, golf, basketball, tennis, baseball, softball and flying. He thoroughly enjoyed life in the Highland Lakes Community and was maybe best known for organizing the community monthly breakfast club. He was most thankful for all the people/neighbors who worked along side him to make it so successful.

Baldwin Brothers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements to be scheduled at a later time. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the ASPCA in Leesburg, Florida or the charity of your choice.
