Obituary

John Ira Marshall, age 79, died on Monday, March 6, 2017 at 5:50 PM at the Cornerstone, Hospice House of Tavares.

He was born on October 10, 1937 in Lima, Ohio to Glenn and Margaret Marshall who preceded him in death. On December 8, 1961, he married Delores Grant.

John was a teacher at Fostoria High School and retired after 30 years. He was a member of the National Education Association, the Eagles, the Elks, the Moose, and the AmVets. He was an avid bowler, golfer and fisherman. John was an Ohio State University football fan and liked the Detroit Tigers and Lions.

John is survived by his wife; Delores; two daughters, Faith Marshall and Tina Bess, six grandchildren; Jessica Bushell, Michael Bess, Chrystopher Bess, Zackary Bess, Colin Marshall, and Alexander Miller; and five great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews and in-laws.

He was preceded in death by his sister Marcia and his son, John Ira Marshall II.

A Remembrance Ceremony will be held on April 22, 2017 in Ada, Ohio in the Community Room at 1200 S. Main Street from 1:00 to 4:00.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be donated to the Wounded War Project and the Hospice House of Tavares, Florida.

    So sorry to hear of Johns Passing. John was the greatest neighbor anyone could ask for at Indian Lake Ohio. Thank you John for all you did for our our grandparents at the lake many years ago. I'll always remember our chats about the Buckeyes while you were making your homemade hobo stew.
