Obituary

John K. Findley passed away at the age of 79 on July 11, 2021 at The Villages Regional Hospital.

He was born in Lodi, Ohio, and graduated from The Milton Hershey School in 1959, Elizabethtown College with a  Bachelor degree in Education, and Shippensburg University with a Masters in Guidance and Counseling. He had many life experiences which include the following: Teacher, counselor, pilot, real estate sales , owning a business, licensing specialist with the Pennsylvania Department of Education, and Milton Hershey School staff. John enjoyed golf, travel, and being a private pilot , only to be surpassed by being a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce, of 54 years, son, John, and his wife Caroline of Philadelphia, son, Jason, of The Villages, brothers, Loyal and Dennis of Flint, MI, sister, Jeannette Findley of Rutland, OH, sister, Karla  Sferro, of West Liberty, OH, sister, Debbie Choken of Punta Gorde, FL, five grand children – Josiah, Harrison, Grace, Phoebe, Tyler and wife, Janae, and many loved nieces, nephews, and family members. He was preceded in death by parents Lenore and Quinter Findley, and brothers, Doyle, Daryl, and Lowell Findley.

A celebration of life will be held on September 4th at Mulberry Recreation Center, The Villages, at 2:30 pm. A church service and burial will follow at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Oaks, PA on September 25th at 2:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in his name towards a memorial bench in The Villages, FL.

    We have known John & Joyce ever since they had moved to The Villages. We played a lot of golf and many card games together. John was a great friend and a great story teller. He had many life experiences to share with his friends. A fun person to be around even when his health started to decline. He was always upbeat and ready to go.
