Obituary

John (Pete) Knight 81, of Tavares Florida (formally of Bristol Connecticut) passed away peacefully with his loving wife at his side on July 21, 2023 after a lengthy illness. John was the beloved husband of Wilma Sauer Knight and loving father of Rodney Knight and predeceased Step-Son David Kehaya.

In addition to his loving wife and children he leaves his sister Lee and husband Rocky Normandin, 4 nephews and one niece. Also predeceased sister Doreen and husband Alva LaGasse. Daughter in law Michelle Kehaya and three beautiful granddaughters, Elise, Lily, and Alexis Kehaya. The girls loved their Pepere dearly.

John was born December 27, 1941 in St. Leonard, New Brunswick, Canada. John served in the Armed Forces as a paratrooper and was a proud member of the 82nd Airborne.

John was a very hard-working talented man with a passion for working his hands. He was a perfectionist in everything that he did.

John loved fishing, hunting, camping, playing setback, playing concentration with granddaughters, and watching westerns (Gunsmoke). One of his favorite activities was going to the casino. John was also noted to make a mean whiskey sour drink.

John will be deeply missed by family and friends, especially Tim and Jeannie Martin.

In Johns memory, please remember his sense of humor, stories and his love for his country and family.

Uncle John, I am sorry that we did not have very much time together. So glad to have been able to share texts and facebook messages since you were so far away. I will continue to do that with Aunt Wilma though ☺ May you find a great fishing spot among the clouds - you can now say when you're fishing, you're in Heaven! I will always remember you with a smile. I hope that Tony Bennett will be singing you a song or two....may you both rest in peace now.

Great friend, and many good stories. Loved his sense of humor. John's life is truely a living novel. The 82nd Airborne Has gained another Soul in God's kingdom with his last jump from Earth.
As John said, "Any jump that you can stand and walk away from is a good jump". I know in my heart that the parachute opened and it was a good jump. John walked into the House of our Lord.
