Obituary
John W ‘Wally’ Phillips, 85, of Orlando, FL passed away peacefully at Hospice of the Comforter in Altamonte Springs, on May 19, 2017.
John was born in Boston, MA on September 10, 1931. He graduated from Brighton High School in Boston and joined the Air Force. He served in the Korean War as a Crew Chief stationed in Japan. He came home and met Beverly, they wed and he started working in Cape Canaveral, FL for Douglas Aircraft Co, Chrysler Corp. and Grumman Aerospace Corp. He was a member of the team to put our first men in orbit and on the moon.
When the space program slowed down he worked at Stanley Doors Co. and installed the automatic doors for the new attraction in Orlando, Walt Disney World. His final twenty seven working years he was a Property Manager/Chief Maintenance Engineer-Supervisor for Southeast, JMB and Johnson Controls.
He loved camping, boating and fishing.
He is predeceased by his parents Harry and Helen, loving wife Beverly, sisters; Marie and Alyce, brother; Henry ‘Hank’. He is survived by his daughters; Debra Deal and Lora Stootman, grandchildren; Tiffiny, Crystal, Justin, Trevor and Kyle, great-grand children; Jacob and Abigail.
Per his request no funeral services will be held. Both his and his wife’s ashes will be released in the sea together by his loving family.
