Obituary
John David Scott, “Jack”, 77 passed away peacefully at his home in Winter Springs, FL on June 24th,2022. He was preceded in death by his parents, John & Phyllis Scott and brother Richard Scott of Kingston, PA.
Jack was an Air Force veteran who proudly served his country in Vietnam from 1964-1966. After the military he found his “niche” working as a sales representative for over 30 years, selling material handling products, wire rope, & power tools. He won several awards across multiple companies for his sales achievements.
Jack was on the road a lot for his business but was always home on the weekends or when there was a sporting event with his sons. He found time to coach his sons’ soccer teams and never missed a game traveling with them for their out-of-town games.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Gloria and sons John & Jason. He is also survived by his four grandchildren: Caleb, Colton, Samantha, Luke and a niece, Holly Scott Durrance of Palm Coast, FL.
Jack loved his football (college & NFL), soccer, and basketball. He had a quick wit and love for people; especially in our neighborhood where he lived for 32 years.
He loved kids and was known as “Papa Jack” to the second graders in Miss Richey’s class at Goldsboro Elementary School in Sanford where he volunteered helping them learn to read & practice math.
His favorite times in the last few years were spent at Central Winds Dog Park in Winter Springs where he enjoyed daily morning visits with his buddies and all the dogs. He will be sorely missed by his family, friends, and neighbors.
A memorial service is planned for Friday July 8th, from 5-7 PM at Journey Christian Church in Apopka. Arrangements are being handled by Baldwin Brothers Funeral & Cremation Society in Apopka. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando.
