Obituary

John “Jack” Sforza, 83, of Waterbury, CT, passed away Friday, July 26th, in Daytona, FL, after a short battle with cancer. Jack leaves behind a loving wife of 64 years,  Sandra “Lee” Sforza (Marticello). He also leaves behind a brother, Donny Sforza, four sons and their wives, Michael & Catherine, Mark & Teri, John & Stephanie, Scott & Darlene, and one niece, Victoria, husband Anthony, & daughter Aria.

Jack, known as “Poppy,” is also survived by 5 beloved grandchildren, Jessica & husband Brock, Lauren & wife Jessica, Bryanna & husband Russell, Jordan & fiancé Alice, and Dax He was also lucky enough to spend some time with his great grandchildren, James, Remi, and Lexi. A true patriarch to the family whom he loved spending time with, he leaves them with many fond memories. Jack is predeceased by his parents, Rita & Michel Sforza, and his grandson Matthew Sforza.

Before becoming a blackbelt in karate, Jack served for 4 years in the US Navy on the USS Arcadia, stationed in Guantanamo Bay. He then went on to spend over 20 years working for Frito Lay as a regional sales manager, where he finally retired at 55. In retirement, Jack was able to spend time doing the things he loved most – golfing, bowling, and watching the Red Sox & Giants.

He will be remembered for the pride he took in his family, his great sense of humor, and his ability to tell it like it is. He was a loving husband, great father, wonderful grandfather, and loyal brother & friend. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

A celebration of life will be held at the Bristol Elks Club on September 14th from 2-5pm.

    Jack was an original and I am better for having known him. Whether it was while playing cards or sharing a beer, Jack had a way of cutting out the nonsense and getting straight to heart of things. He will be missed.
