Obituary

John Strohkirch, 75, passed away Saturday, August 27, at his home in The Villages, FL.  He was born, November 4, 1946 to the late Clarence and Kathryn (Haas) Strohkirch of Owen, Wisconsin. John attended and graduated from Owen-Withee High School in 1964.  He went on to the University of Eau Claire graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry.  He received his Masters in Management / Marketing Emphasis from the Cleveland State University in Cleveland, Ohio.  John was united in marriage to Nancy Stewart at the Nazareth Lutheran Church, in Withee, WI August 24, 1968.

John enjoyed moving about the country.  He worked for Union Carbide in Oak Ridge, TN/ Cleveland, OH and also in Bennington, VT.   Medtronic, Inc. in Minneapolis, MN was one of his employers – not once but twice over the years.  Duracell (located in Valdese, North Carolina) took him and his family to Hickory, NC.  He was General Manager for Marvin Windows and Doors of Tennessee from 1993 to 1998 while living in Ripley, TN.  The next stop for John was a company called Cyro in Osceola, AR a high volume polymer facility.  He retired from Omnium located in Blytheville, AR in 2008.  Deciding he wasn’t quite ready for retirement, he worked with Genco Logistics in Lebanon, TN and tried his hand at Amazon while living in Murfreesboro, TN but after a few weeks of standing on his feet all day he decided maybe retirement wouldn’t be so bad.

He liked to be busy and learn new things.  John enjoyed fishing and found three properties to do this at. A place in Cadiz, KY on Lake Barkley; one in Seville, FL on Lake George and one in Mt. Dora on Lake Dora.  He found out he was good at fixing up these places and they accomplished his goals – to be busy and learn something new.

Suffice it to say that John enjoyed seeing this Country and meeting many people along the way – many of which continue to be close and dear friends. As he got older he enjoyed the warmer climates and got to enjoy his home in The Villages, FL since November of 2019.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy (Stewart) Strohkirch; son, Jason (Christy) Strohkirch of Grand Rivers, KY; daughter, Julie (Mike) Harvey of Murfreesboro, TN; 2 grandchildren Grady Harvey and Carly Harvey; his sister Jane Becker of Altoona, WI; nieces, nephews and cousins.
