Obituary

Joe is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Carolyn, brother, Paul, daughters, Deborah Carr (Jed Robert), Christine Cacace (Thomas), Lisa Martini (Steven), and Jo-Ann Hopkins (Thomas), and son, Anthony (Cindy).    He had seven grandchildren, Michael Cacace, Christa Saraceni, Nicole Martini, Joseph Martini, Gregory Martini, Sarah Hopkins, Jessica Hopkins and two great grand-children, Morgan Cacace, and Julianne Saraceni. Joe was an avid boater who loved spending time with his family on the Connecticut River, Long Island Sound, Pierce Lake and the Inter-Coastal waters of Florida. His love of the ocean was passed on to his children and grandchildren. Our dad was a devoted husband, a supportive  father and caring friend  to many.  He will forever watch over us all now, without worry or pain, just love. He was a a graduate of Hamilton Street Catholic School and the Boardman Trade School in New Haven. He served in the US Army as a medical technician and Postmaster at Fort Carson, Colorado during the Korean Conflict.  He was a member of the Guilford Connecticut Yacht Club, the Cromwell Outboard Association, the American Legion Post, and the Carpenters Union.  He was the first chairman of the Edgewater Landing Architectural Committee. Joe was a self made businessman whose company, JEFCO Fabricators, Inc., provided industrial contracting support to GE, United Nuclear, Pratt Whitney, St. Raphael’s Hospital, Yale New Haven Hospital, and Macke Vending Machines throughout New England.  His second company, Kountry Kitchen, specialized in designing and installing custom kitchens, resort property and home remodeling.     A Life Celebration will be held on Friday, September 23, 2011 at 1:00 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, at New Smyrna Beach, Florida
